decreases and the wear rate of the cutting tooth increases. In this regard, the development

of alternative methods and tools for mechanical sharpening of chain saws of forestry
machines is a pressing topic. The article considers the design of saw chains used, among

other things, on logging machines for mechanized felling of forests. The device of the

saw chain and the classification of methods and equipment for sharpening chain saws are
given. The analysis of tools, equipment and key features of the manual method of

sharpening chain saws, as well as the mechanized method of sharpening, is presented.
The scheme of the tooth of a chain saw after sharpening on a grinding machine with an

abrasive wheel and the scheme of the tooth of a chain saw after sharpening with a round
file or a cylindrical abrasive tool are considered. It is concluded that it is necessary to

develop equipment and tools for sharpening chain saws in a mechanized way using

cylindrical or conical abrasive tools.

Введение. Лесозаготовка ведется в несколько этапов и может

осуществляться разными способами. Самый распространенный

вариант — скандинавский. В данном случае лесоматериал

заготавливается сортаментами. Поэтому некоторые операции по

обработке древесины выполняются непосредственно на участке. Это

требует мощных физических усилий, к тому же всегда есть

определенные требования к производительности. Задача решается с

помощью специальной лесозаготовительной техники. Она берет на

себя все сложные, тяжелые работы [1, с 129].

Применение этого оборудования зависит от специфики,

сложности, объема выполняемых операций. Основные этапы заготовки

лесоматериалов: валка деревьев; снятие коры, обрезание кроны и

ветвей; трелевка; раскряжёвка, распил; сортировка по установленным

признакам, штабелирование; перевозка в пункт назначения. Для
